Down Jacket - Very Comfortable

A down jacket is one of the warmest and most sought after types of jackets by both men and women.  Combining incomparable warmth, soft comfort and stunning styles is something that your average fleece or wool sweater just can't do.  If you're looking for top notch comfort and warmth, a down jacket should be number one on your list.

There are a wide variety of down coat styles available on today's market and not all of them are as bulky as you would imagine either. There are several styles of down filled winter coats that are thinner than your normal puffer coat which is very appealing to many people.

Not all down outerwear comes in the same cliche design and colors either. The market is full of down jackets with patterned material, exciting colors like pink, green and blue as well as more standard shades of tan and black as well. You can purchase a parka style coat with fur lining, or if you prefer to keep your head uncovered you can opt for a jacket that has no hood, or a removable hood instead. The options are innumerable.

Caring for a down jacket is a bit more complicated than it is with other types of jackets. To wash your winter coat without harming it, you will have to put in a bit of effort, but the comfort and warmth of a down filled winter jacket is well worth it.

To start, you need to use a washing machine that does not have any sort of device in the center to move clothes around or you will inevitably harm your jacket. If your at home machine has a center rod, visit a laundromat and use theirs instead. Shake your jacket out and then wash it, without detergent on a cold gentle cycle. Squeeze the water out and repeat that step if the water is dirty, if it's clear rewash the jacket with 2/3s of a cup of very mild detergent.

Use a towel to remove excess water from your jacket then place it in the dryer on medium for 5 minutes. Remove your jacket, lay it on a clean table and fluff the down by plucking and patting your coat and then dry it for another 10 minutes, repeat the plucking and drying until your jacket is fully dried.

No matter what style of down jacket you choose, you can rest assured that it will keep you warm and toasty during the most chilly of conditions for years to come as long as you care for it properly.  Regardless of your personal taste you are sure to find a coat to match your style.  Whether paired with jeans and tennis shoes or a long skirt and boots, the ultimate cold weather accessory is a down jacket.
